Candy Cane Bow Range Check
I keep seeing people saying that the CCB is a Short Bow. I don't buy it. Sure, it may have the same attack speed, but I'd like to see a Short Bow attack at this range.

There's a topic on how to do it around here somewhere....
Meh, what you do to get the FPS is Right Click on a Shortcut for Gw.exe, go Properties, and where it says "Target", add to the end without the quotes " -perf display FPS" with that space at the begining.

I find that really odd, because my shortbow has a base attack range inside my aggro ring. I'll check that the same way I did the CC Bow when it's not 4 am.

It's running away, so it's moved away since you started your attack animation too, so move it a few feet closer

My candy cane bow puts me right inside the edge of bubble, so consider yourself lucky. Personally, I was wondering what kind of bow it was, as it gives me even less range than a half-moon OR a short.

The way you describe it - Its EXACTLY like your short/half moon bows - Just inside your aggro circle...
Unless you got some glitched up Short bows that have longbow range :P

Same here or a little closer.Notice that the Grawl he is shooting is running away. That's why he got decent range.

Looks like I was wrong... darn :(
I trapped a Graal Shaman's group so that I could do repeated damage without killing my target. I've found that the Shamans will stand in place and cast if you get them alone. I'll let my pictures speak for themselves.

Did you take the terrain into account? You can shoot slightly further and with higher damage if you are standing on higher ground shooting at targets below.

Terrain isn't a concideration with those last 3 pics. You can see clearly that the Shortbow has not slightly similar, but DEAD ON EXACTLY the same range as the candycane bow.
And, yes, I usually try to find a nice hill to stand on when I use a bow :P
[EDIT] On a side note, I was doing more damage with 1 Marksmanship with the CCB than I was doing with either of my other bows. Something like 45 a hit with the CCB.

i tested my candycane bow and halfmoon bow on Dune Burrowers ( stationary monsters ) ... they both seem to have the same range, refire, and flight time

I got it for the look, not for its stats >_>
Why would you worry about range...unless you are pulling with it, which wouldn't be that great.

well, I was concerned about the range because a longbow is more useful than a shortbow >.> Lame reason, I know, but there you have it.
Well, that damage thing I noticed got me thinking, so I tested its damage at every Marks level (took a while) against a lvl 3 Graal Ulodyte with an un-customized one. Here's what I got:
00: 12-17
01: 13-19
02: 14-20
03: 16-22
04: 17-24
05: 19-27
06: 20-29
07: 22-32
08: 24-34
09: 27-38
10: __-41
11: __-45
12: 34-49
13: 40-50
14: __-52
15: 38-54
16: __-56
The low damage is it's normal damage, I think. As the Marks level rose, the chance for it to do the low damage seemed to decrease quite a bit. I also noticed that the Graal I was fighting had it's healing powers nerfed after a while. I do 50~ damage to enemy, he uses Heal Area (min 30) about 6-7 times to get up to the same point while I do nothing. Even when a second one wandered by and started using Heal Other (min 35) it seemed like he was only gaining about 1-5 health a shot. I found that pretty interesting.

Great test, screens to prove yer point.SO do you plan on using the CC bow or do you agree with me that its a collector item and the best looking candy weapon to be had.

I'll use the bow when it's useful. I think it has merit for certain, VERY specific builds (eek out a tiny bit more damage with a 2 Att trapper, for instance), but it's mostly cool for novalty. Beats the tar out of my Candy Sword, that's for sure and for certain.

I have a CC bow on my warrior/ranger. Been wanting to play her ranger side a little, but with her highly specialized in strength and sword, it just doesn't leave a whole lot of points for marksmanship. Now with 3 marks, she does some damage (ok, no place near my exp. marks ranger ) but it is just so fun to see a warrior in full Knight's/plate wielding a pretty little bow.....
Got one for my lvl 8 ele/ranger as well. Her other weapons are the CC wand and peppermint shield (gifts from her 'big sisters')---and that wand can deal damage!
Might just pick up a couple extra for future characters.
